It wouldn’t be summer in Highlands without the Village Square Art & Craft Shows. They have become well known and much loved for their high quality, regionally made fine art, crafts and rustic furniture.

Many of the 75+ artisans are regular exhibitors: Marcus Thomas (painter), Vicki Ferguson (whimsical animal art), Terri Johansson (glass art), Dean Epperson (rustic tables) Lee Byers (pearl & leather jewelry), Benson Picklesimer (wood craft), and Wesley Angel (blacksmith).

New faces include Jim Boxerman with leather goods; Cynde and Mark Copple with fiber art and paintings; Vasanto’s fiber art; and Highland Braided Rugs by Rebecca Stroud.

Rotary of Highlands Mountaintop, the show’s sponsor, will have volunteers selling tacos in the park both Saturday and Sunday, with part of their proceeds benefitting the park. Great Smoky Mountain Kettle Corn will be there, and Fressers Eatery in the Square has great food as well.

While there is no cost for admission, donations to Rotary will be greatly appreciated.

Bring a chair to enjoy entertainment from 11 to 3 both days. Jim Lord and his guitar will play on Saturday. The country music group of Eli Mosley performs Sunday. The free concert in the park will be presented as usual at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

The show is downtown Highlands, NC in beautiful K-H Founders Park on Pine Street at N. 5th St. For more information, call show coordinator Cynthia Strain (828) 787-2021. You can also follow our Facebook page for updates and more information on vendors.
