Phippen Museum Highlights Local Color in Prescott
Phippen Museum Highlights Local Color
October 6th, 2018-February 17th, 2019
This place we call home, located in Arizona’s central highlands, is one of those special places in our state that experience all four seasons. Summer is always hot and, although sometimes limited, we see some snow in the winter and the change of leaves in fall. But throughout the year, the Prescott area is also continually blessed with nature’s colorful transitions: skies that change from the deepest clear blues to the steely greys of winter; breathtaking sunsets that offer a master’s palette of crimson, pink and purple; and vast expanses of grassland that fade from the deepest of greens to large swaths of yellow and orange.
And in the Phippen Museum’s upcoming exhibition, LOCAL COLOR, the colorful palettes and creative minds of some of the best local western artists in Yavapai County’s artistic community will be featured.
Not only does this exhibit bring to life the many dynamic and stunning landscapes our community has to offer, but it also depicts the rich ranching lifestyle that has prevailed in this part of the country for many generations.
Featured local artists in this special exhibit include: Kathy Quick Anderson, Bill Anton, Steve Atkinson, Shawn Cameron, Dane Chinnock, John Coleman CA, Bill Cramer, David Halbach CA, Doug Hyde, Bill Nebeker CA, Robert Peters, Don Rantz, Ken Rowe and Curt Walters. From sculpture to drawings, participating artists will bring their unique outlook and different artistic techniques to enhance this special presentation and delight museum visitors.
A special members preview and opening reception for this exhibition is scheduled on Friday, October 5th at 5:30PM, with museum members admitted free and guests for $10 each. Catering will be provided by Goods From the Garden and a cash bar will be available for attendees.
The Phippen Museum is located only a few minutes north of downtown Prescott, Arizona, at 4701 Highway 89 North. Along with this latest presentation, the museum is also currently offering Pastels: Color the West, on display in the James Gallery through November 25th, 2018.
