Successful 3rd Annual Olmsted Plein Air Invitational

An art event in the Atlanta area, the Olmsted Plein Air Invitational is a top regional and national art exhibit.  Artists from across the nation participate and showcase their works in this Georgia art event

For the third year, the Olmsted Plein Air Invitational was the inspiration for extraordinary artwork by some of America's top painters documenting Atlanta . . . most of which was painted 'in-town' in the unique urban setting that is Atlanta's Invitational.  Of the almost 1,000 collectable paintings created during the seven days of the Invitational, many are now treasures in someones' home. One was purchased by a collector and donated to a museum!

The invited  artists in the Olmsted Plein Air Invitational  were competing for a piece of the $30,000+ purse (!). This year we had a very special award given by one of our top supporters: 'Vanishing Landscapes'.

All paintings in the Awards Gallery were spectacular and the documentation of many of our in-town vanishing landscapes were particularly noteworthy, with artists documenting this point in time. The winner of the 'Vanishing Landscapes' Award was Artist Shelby Keefe. Her painting titled “Arrested Development" illustrates this story.

Additional images of Atlanta's 'vanishing landscapes' that were painted during event week are available for purchase on the website:

Olmsted Plein Air Invitational has been a catalyst for the public art movement in Atlanta. It is free to the public, and art student scholarships upholding the Mission, and sponsored by Binders Art Supply, are available to encourage qualified high school and college students. The public can experience some of the most celebrated contemporary Impressionist landscape artists from across America in one place (Atlanta) at one time (during event week), creating collectible art.  What's not to love?
