For thousands of years artists have used still life to not only display their technical skills but to reveal deeper truths about the human psyche. Famous still-life painters from Rembrandt to Cézanne have used the genre to experiment with unique painting styles, depict allegorical and symbolic meanings through every day objects, and capture a slice of life of the current time and culture.
artGuide Magazine's featured still life artists, Nicole Kennedy and Kimberlee Maselli, continue in that tradition. Raleigh's Nicole Kennedy has been awarded Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society in 2017 and was juried into OPA Eastern numerous times, as well as the Audubon Artists National at Salmagundi Club NYC.
Kimberlee Maselli resides in Cary, NC and uses bold color and brush strokes to evoke strong emotions. She teaches to sold out classes every November at Art of the Carolinas and shares her knowledge and experience to help students develop their own unique style.
Nicole White Kennedy was awarded Signature Member of the American Impressionist Society in 2017 and won the Southwest Art Magazine Award of Excellence in 2011. She won Outstanding Figurative in the annual WPSE juried exhibit & Excellence in Figurative NOAPS exhibit 2016. Kimberlee Maselli creates a diverse array of landscapes and contemporary abstracts using contrasts in form and color to evoke emotion in each piece. Bold brushstrokes, palette knife texture and her vibrant use of color invite viewers to explore the subtle complexities and unfolding narrative.
A life-long artist, Kimberlee is dedicated to empowering people to embrace their own creativity through her workshops, art and wellness retreats and online classes.
