Crum, John

Best known for his figurative and gently surreal coastal paintings, John’s work captures ordinary moments of life and invents a curious and sometimes whimsical twist with a dreamlike quality.

"I consider a painting successful when the viewer stops; takes a closer look; and then smiles."

A graduate of Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, John received his classical fine art training from nationally acclaimed artists of figure, portrait, and landscape painting in addition to nationally prominent graphic artists. After graduation, he embarked on a life-long career as a painter, muralist, illustrator and graphic artist.

"Living near the ocean and marsh I am always in awe of this beautiful landscape and being witness to the amazing power and beauty of nature. I draw daily inspiration from the island, the wonderful cultural influences, and its surreal landscapes."
