Artist Intros Beau Wild
artGuide Magazine is pleased to showcase Lagerquist Gallery artist Beau Wild in Artist Intros
As a native Floridian, Beau Wild was educated at Tufts University in Occupational Therapy and at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in painting, both in Boston, Massachusetts. Dual roles as therapist and painter spanned decades and each enhanced the success of the other. She returned to her childhood hometown of Daytona Beach and today, paints daily in her “Hidden Bay Studio” along Rose Bay in Port Orange, Florida.
One of my essential questions is the issue of visibility and invisibility – how much to offer, how much to obscure and where is the point at which this hangs in the balance? While I assume the objective position of the observer, these glimpses open a small window through which I also look inside my own emotional life.
Beau Wild has won numerous awards, including Best In Show, since first showing her work in 1965. Fran Gardner’s book Between The Seen & The Unseen” published in 2014 reviews Beau’s 30 years of figurative drawings & paintings.
