13th Annual MOCA GALA Art Auction
On April 9th, 2016, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) is presenting the 13th Annual MOCA GALA Art Auction in Atlanta, Georgia. This event is a wonderful night in support of Georgia art and the Museum’s mission to collect, showcase, and preserve the contemporary art of Georgia. MOCA GA was founded in 2000 and remains the only Museum dedicated to promoting the arts of the state of Georgia and fostering connections between local artists and the community.
Join MOCA GA Director, Annette Cone-Skelton at the MOCA GALA 2016 as we present more than 100 high-quality works of art by an invitation-only group of Georgia’s finest artists. The 2015 MOCA GALA Art Auction raised nearly $200,000 for the Museum, funds which are unrestricted and help make all exhibitions, events, and educational programs possible. Each year MOCA GA presents an average of 14 exhibitions to the public, adds an average of 100 works to the permanent collection, and hosts nearly 25 events that connect artists working in Georgia with the surrounding community. The MOCA GALA provides an evening of socializing with local artists while supporting the Museum’s programs throughout the year. In particular, the 2016 GALA will highlight past winners of MOCA GA’s Working Artist Project, a fellowship program that supports 3 artists each year with a stipend, solo exhibition, and catalogue in order to promote Atlanta as a city where artists can build lasting careers.
The MOCA GALA 2016 will honor architects Mack Scogin and Merrill Elam of renowned Mack Scogin Merrill Elam Architects for their contributions to the international architecture and design community as well as their unwavering support of MOCA GA and Georgia contemporary art. Mack and Merrill stated, “Every state should be so lucky to have a MOCA GA, an institution that recognizes implicitly the necessity of art in our lives and nurtures those in our community that are dedicated to it.”
Join them at the MOCA GALA 2016, an evening in support of local arts and culture!
