Roswell art gallery, Vinings Gallery is having a Grand Opening

Vinings Gallery is pleased to be celebrating the Grand Opening of its second location in Historic Roswell during the weekend of September 16-18. Artists Zheng Li, Gloria Lee, Chad Awalt, Fabio Napoleoni, John-Mark Gleadow, and others will join the Gallery family in celebrating the new location!  Owner Gary Handler explains the expansion in Roswell: “After almost 20 years in business, and almost four years here in Historic Roswell, we saw the opportunity for an additional large space in this vibrant community.  Vinings Gallery now has two locations in Historic Roswell catering to the bustling population that frequents the Canton Street area.  The arts community is thriving in this neighborhood, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of that movement!”
Visitors to the new Gallery will recognize the trademark Vinings Gallery vibe with a fresh, colorful mix of new artists (along with a few collectors will recognize).  Vinings Gallery on Canton is thrilled to be featuring world-renowned artist Zheng Li; San Diego artist Gloria Lee; Fabio Napoleoni, Robert Bissell, John-Mark Gleadow along with an amazing array of stunning fine art glass and contemporary sculpture.

Look for a schedule of one-man shows throughout the coming fall season. Grand Opening events for collectors and the general public, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Roswell Mayor Jere Wood are scheduled September 16-18, 2016.

We sat down with Gard Handler of Vinings Gallery and asked him about the Gallery's past, present, and future.

Since 1999, Vinings Gallery has grown to be one of the region’s leading art galleries.  What brought you into art?

The funny thing is, I never had any type of art class, or formal training for this line of work in college. But, I took a part-time job in an Atlanta art gallery shortly after graduating and fell in love with the industry -- it then became my career

What was your vision for Vinings Gallery, and how has this vision come to fruition and exceeded it?

My vision was to bring an internationally-recognized group of artists to the Atlanta community, which has been so incredibly supportive and trusting of Vinings Gallery over the years.  One of the benchmarks on which we’ve built this business has been relationships -- we have become friends with so many collectors, and in turn they (and we) have created lifelong friendships with the artists we represent.  Atlanta and the Southeast have really responded overwhelmingly to our portfolio.  It’s been a very exciting journey.

What will the new space bring to the Roswell and Greater Atlanta area?

Visitors to the new Gallery will recognize the trademark Vinings Gallery vibe with a bit more of a contemporary edge.  This collection now includes new sculpture and fine art glass along with the two-dimensional art that we are already well-known for.

What does the future hold for Vinings Gallery?

We are just so excited to be a part of the thriving Roswell community.  As far as the Gallery itself, we will stay true to our mission of being on the cutting edge so we have the ability to introduce emerging artists into our portfolio while maintaining an array of artists that speak to the more traditional and established body of work.
